Restaurant Review - Lombardi's Pizza

New York, NY 10012
Lombardi's Pizza
32 Spring Street

Lombardi's is a signature location being that it is the first pizzeria to open in NYC. Opened by an Italian immigrant who started the tradition of staple foods around the world, the restaurant has over 100 years of tradition since it first opened back in 1905. Unfortunately for that matter, the hype is only behind the fact that it is the first pizza restaurant which ultimately leads it to be the one tourist destination in Little Italy of Nolita.

Known for their pizzas, it is a must order for anyone who fancies to try out the signature pizza. Being that Italian food is circled around a family tradition, Lombardi's Pizza bakes up a fresh humongous pie that is to be shared. The pizza is ordered to your liking, selecting your desired toppings. It is recommended to share the pizzas between a group, leaving room for the extra things on the menu. Although it is a limited menu, calzones are one of the favorites at Lombardi's Pizza for a stuffed filling that is jammed with melted cheese.

For anyone going in a bigger group that fancies alcoholic beverages, the fresh sangria pitcher is probably the kicker of the night. There isn't much on the menu for drinks, but we can't say no to a pitcher of sangria!

All in all, Lombardi's Pizza is honestly just a F-O-M-O. It is one of those things that you may regret not trying when you visited NYC, but there's not much to rave about there. Therefore, get it checked off that bucket list, but don't wait on a long line to do so because you might regret that one as well!

Sweet Tooth Satisfaction - Ceci Cela

Ceci Cela, a bakery known for its croissants is baking up all things delicious starting as early as 6:30. Serving the early morning breakfast crowds, afternoon snackers as well as the night time desserts, Ceci Cela is open all day into the night providing French goodies for every meal, every hour of the day. With so many baked delicatessens to choose from, it is easy to find something that caters to the taste buds of all.
The most recognized croissants are the traditional, sweet and salty ones that are all stuffed with a mix of  vegetables, meats, and even cheese. My ultimate favorite are the sweeter ones which include almond, chocolate, and the original glazed. In addition to the fluffy croissants, there are a handful of cakes, tarts, cookies, macarons, and all that feeds the heart of New York.

Sweet Tooth Satisfaction - Rice to Riches

Rice To Riches, a famous rice pudding spot in Nolita is known for their take on the traditional American dessert, infusing all sorts of flavors including fruits and sweet savories that you probably would never think of. This is the perfect place for those who are a big fan of the rice pudding dessert. With about 20 flavors in store, it leaves you wondering what else they can come up with next!

A serving of the rice pudding can be a bit pricey, over $7 for a small bowl of fresh rice pudding which can be enough to share between two. For those who are looking for a smaller and less pricier size, you can go for the packaged rice pudding. The smallest size is for a price of $4, but the packaging is not as nice as the colorful bowls for fresh rice pudding.

I have to admit I am not a big fan of rice pudding, but I love the concept of the dessert. It is definitely nice to have a twist to the traditional goody that is extremely popular amongst many. I know my friends go yonkers for this goody and die for the day they can pay a visit to Rice to Riches.

Sweet Tooth Satisfaction - babycakes

babycakes is an extremely popular vegan, but small bakery in Nolita. For anyone with an allergy, you can definitely give this bakery a try before giving up all things yummy. Decked out in all things girly and sweet, you can miss this small bakery if you aren't cautious enough and you definitely don't want to miss this bakery! Being that it is a small cozy spot and extremely popular, there is a request of photos to not be taken in store so definitely keep that in mind and make your purchases quick!

The best thing about babycakes that makes it stand apart from the rest is the fact that it is a vegan bakery, offering refined sugar-free, gluten-free, wheat free, soy-free, diary-free, egg-free, vegan and kosher goodies. For anyone who has to watch their diet or want a healthy cheat, babycakes is the best place to do so! With so many baked goods to choose from, you can go healthy or go crazy like me. The recommended of course is their cupcakes, a little too much to choose from which made my choices difficult. The one cupcake recommendation I must make is the chocolate chip mint cupcake that has chocolate chips inside the cupcake! I love the fact that the chocolate chips are still hard and not melted in the cupcakes like they are in other bakeries.

Another one of my favorite is the vanilla lemon cupcake top. It is literally the top of a cupcake (literally the best part of a cupcake). Palm size and yummy, babycakes is definitely one of my favorite spots for dessert now. Be sure to try out their many other flavors and cupcake infusions like the pumpkin vanilla, sweet, savory, spicy.

For those who are looking to sample this goody but dont have the time to make a visit, you can simply order online. Orders require a dozen minimum, but the best part is that you can even order nationally!
