Restaurant Review - Big Wong King Restaurant

Big Wong Restaurant
67 Mott Street #A
New York, NY 10013
(212) 964-0540

Big Wong is no stranger to locals, New Yorkers and many tourists. It is one of the oldest restaurants in Chinatown, NY. Recognized by its signature Chinese dishes, low prices, and fast service, Big Wong is a must go to for everyone in the area. I have been going here since I was a child, either ordering take outs on the weekends after my Chinese classes that were right across the street or eating in with family visiting from other states and countries.

I admit, the food at Big Wong has not changed much during the years. There are only more and more people eating here which may result in long wait time on busy days and shared seating (not a common practice for many people). If you pop in during their busy hours, you will not get good service. They will probably not address you with smiles and toss things at you, it is very common to see. At the end of the day, who really cares? You’re there for the food anyway.

In regards to the food, a few of my favorites is the wonton noodle, chicken with roast pork (warning if you order just a chicken leg with white rice, price is roughly $7 whereas chicken with roast pork only costs $5), preserved egg with pork congee, roast pork rice crepe, and the roast duck. Entrees are $5 on average unless you are ordering their specialty dishes which ranges from $10-15 (mostly family style dishes). For drinks, there aren’t much choices—just canned drinks, water, and tea.
