Restaurant Review - Yummy Noodle

Yummy Noodle
48 Bowery (Between Bayard & Canal)
New York, NY 10013

Yummy Noodle has been around for forty years now so you must understand it is not an attractive restaurant, but it has real good food. The restaurant is so well known, it’s made it on top restaurant lists and has even been filmed in movies and shows.

The must order dish at Yummy Noodle is the casserole rice which is amazing. My ultimate favorite is the Chinese sausage with minced pork (picture on the right is topped with an egg which you can request) and I admit, I never finish it alone, no matter how hungry I am. My suggestion is to go with a bunch of friends and order a heck of a lot of dishes that you can share and sample, unless you're all big macho men. I usually do a run by pick up because the food is so great here. I hate walking past the Chinatown stench, but at the end of the day, it’s worth it for good food.

There’s also the Stir Fried Chang Fun with Soy Sauce (picture below) that is a must get. In my opinion, it is extremely overpriced, six dollars for some noodles with soy sauce and peanut sauce. The only bad thing is Yummy Noodle makes the best Stir Fried Chang Fun with Soy Sauce I’ve ever had. It’s tradition to order this dish no matter what. It’s not meant to be an entrĂ©e, more like an appetizer to share and nibble on so don’t be mislead by the menu layout.

For those of you who are out late partying or hanging out and don’t mind eating at a dinky place, Yummy Noodle is your go to spot. It’s a great option other than diner for something to sober you up. Just remember that at the end of the day, it is a restaurant in Chinatown so service may not be great when it is packed with people. Sometimes they prioritize speed and efficiency of food over service.
