Do It All - Cactus Plant

An interesting fact about a cactus plant which still surprises me is the great source of fiber it has, being that it is an edible fruit/vegetable. The best tasting cactus is the prickly pear from mid-August to October. Cactuses are labeled as the Korean country’s health drink for the amount of calcium and iron it contains.

Cactus extracts have also been proven to retain moisture which is an added beauty benefit. The extracts from cactuses have been used in many beauty products to minimize development of fine lines and wrinkles as well as rejuvenate the skin in serums and masks. There’s no DIY yourself for this one, but you can surely pick up a few products over the web.

What I believe to be the best part about the cactus is its everyday abilities around the house. With very little care and water, a cactus plant can help clean and refresh the air that you breathe. The best place to put a cactus plant is in the bathroom because it is able to kill the germs after you handle your business. I recommend throwing the biggest cactus plant you have around the house in every bathroom for good cleaning. Because cactuses grow quick (under observation), they start to produce little baby cactuses which can be labeled as the arms of a cactus that you see in a cartoon show. You can scrape off the little cactuses it grows and plant it somewhere else; I think it’s so much cuter than the big thing.

The little cactus plant is great for this generation of electronic users because it is able to reduce the amount of rays that one absorbs from the electronics. Ultimately, having a cactus plant next to your computer or laptop will reduce the chances of you getting cancer. The plant will also help to clean the air you breathe, like any other plant, but with less watering.

Cactuses have been labeled to be an “endangered plant” so you are not only helping yourself out by planting a cactus, but also the environment and it’s population!
